ServicesProviding and expanding access to comprehensive asthma control service through home and school-based strategies are paramount to controlling asthma. Service strategies involve strengthening and expanding asthma control efforts in homes and schools while linking with services offered by health care organizations. Activities include self-management education, developing linkages to care, education for caregivers for people with asthma, and implementing policy.
The HAI has developed specific evidence-based activities that are aligned to the Hawaii Asthma Plan (PDF) in order to meet the needs of Hawaii communities throughout the state. This process has built leadership capacity statewide by encouraging organizations to identify areas of strength, roles and responsibilities, and contribution to Hawaii’s asthma health system.
